
Parliament: opening of the exhibition on the heroes ‚ square to 100 years of women’s right to vote
Portraits of the first Pioneers on the long path to equality
Vienna (PK) – 100 years Ago, eight women moved in for the first time in the Constituent national Assembly of the Austrian Parliament, after the year 1918, the legal basis for this was created. Under the title „Equal rights – 100 years of suffrage for women“ is dedicated to the Parliament now, of these Pioneers, a further exhibition at the heroes ‚ square, which was opened today on International women’s day officially.
The first female members of Parliament, whose portraits are presented in a kind of „wall newspaper“, have proven that it is worth it to fight for the cause of equality, – said President of the national Council Wolfgang Sobotka. As in the case of the exhibition to the 100-year-old Republic anniversary, which was a great success and a day of about 500 people, was attended, wool to back, so that now again a very important issue in the collective consciousness.

The first Pioneers for the democratic participation of women in Austria
On the ten stand frame, the first eight female members of Parliament and the subsequent Federal Council President Olga Rudel-Zeynek – worldwide the first woman to head a legislative body -will be portrayed. The free tours start under the title „Equal rights – 100 years of suffrage for women“. The 60 minute guide outlines the history of the women’s movement and of women’s suffrage.
