Land consumption: the campaign of the hail insurance in effect
Reduction of soil consumption on a daily basis and 11.8 acres of
Vienna (OTS) – (Austrian hail insurance, 6. March 2019): The Figures released today by the Federal environment Agency show an encouraging Trend: In the years 2016 to 2018 11.8 hectares per day, mainly for construction land, transport and operation, re-claimed. This means a decrease of around nine per cent over the period from 2015 to 2017. „This development is extremely positive. We are, however, still above the objective of the Austrian sustainability strategy from the year 2002, where the daily soil consumption with 2.5 acres has been set,“ said the Chairman of the Board of the Austrian hail insurance Kurt Weinberger, in a first statement, and adds: „the fact is that in Austria, still too much area on a daily basis is installed. We must ask ourselves this most-pressing environmental problem and also, furthermore, consistently to a correction of the land policy work.“
With less floor…
… is endangering our supply of local food is increasing.
… we run the risk of the some 500,000 jobs along the agricultural value chain.
… we lose more of the natural beauty of Austria.
… will lose at the end of the tourism.
… it comes to a further loss of biodiversity.
… is accelerated climate change, drought and flood damage to take.
Vacancy avail, floor protect
On the other hand, we have a vacancy in Austria is in the order of the city of Vienna. Far and wide, but built new huge industrial halls and buildings, usually without the existing infrastructure (sewers, roads) – both in cities, but also in the country. These often oversized buildings destroy the rural structures and an eyesore for the landscape. „The revitalization of the more than 40,000 hectares of vacant real estate is the need of the hour. As a financial Manager coming from the business and constantly with the increasing number of natural disasters is confronted, I have no fears of contact with the word ’sustainability‘. On The Contrary,
Ecological, economic and social interests – reasonable each other. Nature does not need us, but we need the nature. Otherwise, tell us our grandchildren and great-grandchildren later, in a double sense: Why did you us then our future is built?“, Weinberger makes a very good point.
