Martha Bißmann alarmed by the statements of Robert Lugar (FPÖ).
Robert Lugar (FPÖ) has said in the last plenary session on 27.02.2019 that the deputies should leave the ministries to „work in peace“.
Vienna (OTS) – Bißmann has written a Statement:
„The Parliament is at the heart of our democracy. Without a Parliament, without a vibrant parliamentary system, there is no democracy. Authoritarian rulers who want to establish a dictatorship, turn off the power, first of all, the Parliament. History shows us again and again. This also happened in Austria, 86 years ago, when Engelbert Dollfuß by the elimination of the Parliament on 15. March 1933, the first step for the establishment of the dictatorship of the Austro-fascism.
Back then he was even using the police, a national Council meeting resolve and deputies from the Parliament executed.
I know this part of Austrian history. I know the importance of Parliament in our democracy. A Parliament, will be debated in the alive.
Therefore, to me, has made the statement of my colleague, Deputy Robert Lugar so angry. Mr Lugar has repeatedly accused the NEOS, due to their Urgent request to the Minister of Finance from doing his work.
Why alerted me to this statement? Because it recognizes the work of the Parliament, the work of 183 deputies, the electoral districts from the whole of Austria. Because I it is unheard of to find if the use of a parliamentary instrument, the Urgent request is being criticised.
If Mr Lugar, that we, the members of the ministries „work in peace“ and they shall no longer quote into Parliament, then that is a first step to Considering whether it needs the Parliament!
No one should be permitted to the Parliament as the Central institution of our democracy to doubt!
I was very relieved when after my speech, the Finance Minister himself, the statement Lugars has been corrected.“
