
Crowdsourcing pilot project for the design of the visitor centre completed in Parliament, successfully
Six decisions out of 227 proposals of nearly 3,500 users
Vienna (PK) – Under the Motto „Join in!“ was launched in the Parliament on December 26. October 2018, a Crowdsourcing pilot project. It was the question of how the future visitor center in the renovated Parliament building is to be designed. Citizens should make known their wishes and needs and tell you what to expect in the new visitor center.
This crowd-sourcing pilot project is now successfully completed. Not less than 3.468 users on the Crowdsourcing platform contributed to the 227 proposals to a total of six findings, for analysis and decision-making.
So the visitor center as the „Public Zone“ of the Parliament is to grant to all Interested parties as easy as possible to access. Offered, among other things, exhibitions and discussion events to be here. In addition, the site is intended to serve as a bridge between society and politics, such opportunities for exchange between visitors and political leaders are created.
A Central task of the visitor centre with the best possible mediation of democracy and parliamentarism, whose developments and socio-political relevance. Existing formats such as the democracy workshop and the democracy webstatt as well as the classic work of the Mediators is to be maintained and further developed. Further decisions are expected to be available after the completion of the current Crowdsourcing project on teaching Democracy in the autumn of 2019.
In the redesign of the visitor center, the utmost emphasis should be placed to the different needs of the different visitor target groups – target group-specific, and age appropriate preparation of the content, as well as in terms of language, hearing and visual impairments, as well as accessibility.
Learning from international Best Practices for the new visitor centre is also in focus. In addition, a balanced ratio between analog and interactive digital Tools in the design of content should also be taken into account.
