Berlin (ots) – electronic items such as televisions, Tablets, and game consoles are on Sundays up to five percent cheaper than on the other days of the week. This results in an analysis of idealo, the price variations between the different days of the week were compared in 13 product categories.

Many products are on the weekends cheaper than weekdays

According to idealo’s study[1], six out of ten Austrians that online retailers have at the weekend, the most expensive prices. The sample under investigation[2] confirmed this conjecture for Dynamic Pricing[3], however, only part of it. Four out of 13 categories are actually most of the weekend on the tax – including Laptops and espresso machines. At the same time Saturday or Sunday is but in seven categories, the cheapest day of shopping. This is especially true for electronic items. So consumers save while Television shopping on Sunday up to 75 Euro. In the case of Tablets, the Saving is up to 24 Euro, and in the case of game consoles with 10 euros to the most expensive day of shopping. But also household items such as washing machines, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners are on the weekend, up to six percent cheaper than plant tags.

Large price fluctuations are the exception

With a six percent price savings in the analyzed sports and Outdoor categories at the highest. In particular, in the case of tents, the users can save with good Timing. So, 12 percent (35 Euro) figures Camper on Thursday less for your mobile accommodation than on Saturday. These Savings in the double-digit percentage range due to Dynamic Pricing, however, is the exception. In our sample, the price savings is between the days of the week with an average of 4.9 percent. The lowest cost difference (per cent) we are in the category of Smartphones.

Dynamic Pricing – a multifaceted phenomenon

„The reasons for dynamic price adjustments are complex and do not follow a common logic. A cheapest day of shopping, therefore, should not lump identify,“ Veronika Bahr, Country Manager of idealo Austria. „Who would like to save when shopping Online really should be based less on weekdays, but rather the long-term price development of a product to track. The natural price erosion and seasonal effects, provide significantly greater opportunities to bargain than the Dynamic Pricing. One possibility is to set a price alarm clock. In this way, consumers will get an automatic notification once the desired price is reached.“
