FCG-Gabriel calls for social partnership commitment to women’s rights

Successful policy for workers needs also to continue the merger of all forces

Vienna (OTS) – „The International women’s day gives us once again the opportunity, on this socially-relevant issue and to make the partnership Together in the centre of the debate,“ says Monika Gabriel, Chairman of the FCG-women and the Deputy Chairman of the FCG in the Austrian Federation of trade unions on the occasion of the 108. International Women’s Day. With a view to the future takes you, especially the policy in the duty: „trade unions as social partners is essential, and collective agreements are the minimum standard as right and important“.

In addition to the improvement of the collective contractual framework for a common professional to each other, the strengthening of economic independence is, as it has already been announced by the Federal Minister for women, family and youth Dr. Juliane Bogner-Strauss in today’s release, another important point of future trade Union work. „We need the concentration of all forces to the dialogue to further advance“, asks Gabriel.

As a woman, Chairman and the Chairman-Deputy of the Gewerkschaft Öffentlicher Dienst (GÖD) can refer to the Christian trade unionist in a number of successes, because the issue of equal treatment of the Public service has an important and necessary role model. The Gender Pay Gap in the Public service of 11.9% compared to 19.9% in the private sector is relatively low and the proportion of women managers has doubled from 2006 to 2017, from around 15% to 30% „We are on a good way, but must overcome as many hurdles. I invite the business community to follow the Best-Practice examples of Public service,“ explains Gabriel.

The International women’s day shows in politics and society that it needs in terms of equal treatment even more emancipated co-producers. Just the discussions around the dad-to-month, the pension income splitting and the recognition of the waiting times must be led to achieving the goal, namely the better compatibility of family and profession, immediately to a positive conclusion. Gabriel is convinced that in the coming years, more socially-related improvements – especially for women -as social partners is to be pursued. „In connection with a real partnership of Fairness,“ Gabriel concluded.
