Krenn for international women’s day: Much achieved but still much to do more!

ÖVP-Madam speaker: the government programme with numerous women’s political action paves the way for more equality of opportunity

Vienna (OTS/ÖVP-PK) – Wien, 7. March 2019 (ÖVP-PK) „The realities of women are further improve – the new people’s party works every day, not just on international women’s day. The world women’s day to us, but remember that many more measures need to be taken in order to create real equality of opportunity between women and men.“ The Thursday, ÖVP-wife spokeswoman Abg said today. „Women carry a responsibility in all social and life-critical areas such as, for example, in the upbringing, care, education, the economy, the environment, or in numerous volunteer activities. These tasks are recognition and appreciation“ said Krenn and referred to the government’s programme 2017 to 2022, which contains a bundle of measures.

So is it still necessary to close the income gap and equal pay for work of equal value. „Women must not be disadvantaged in the income area,“ underscores Krenn.

A current issue is the prevention of violence and Integration of women. „The aim must be to give women the stability, security and confidence. Violence against women is never acceptable, and it must be taken all the necessary steps to stop this.“ Appropriate measures have also directed the Minister, Mrs Juliane Bogner-Strauss in the way. More than half of the women’s budget flows, for example, in the protection against Violence. Up to the year 2022, 100 new places for women affected by violence should be created. „The Minister is aware of its responsibility and takes this is also fully true.“ Also in the framework of the „Task Force criminal law“ had been developed under the leadership of Secretary of state Karoline Edtstadler measures, the improvements in the protection of victims and tougher penalties for offenders.
