Löger on International women’s day: „equal opportunities in financial management as a lived practice“

Federal MINISTRY of Finance exceeded the target quota for women in the from the Department delegated oversight bodies clearly

Vienna (OTS) – on the Occasion of International women’s day on Friday, 8. March 2019, attracting Finance Minister Hartwig Löger a positive balance on the women’s quota in the Federal Ministry of Finance seconded Supervisory bodies of companies with a Federal share of at least 50 percent: Of the 56 in the Supervisory Board seconded persons are 27 female, which corresponds to a quota of approximately 48.2%. Thus, the Ministry of Finance exceeded the mandatory proportion of 35%, thus creating almost gender parity.

A more balanced picture emerges in the case of the twelve-group of lines in the Federal MINISTRY of Finance, six of which – and thus, exactly half of that of a woman. Of the 51 departments, 23 are headed by women and 28 by men. That’s the equivalent of a women’s quota of approximately 45.1 %.

„These Figures show that the women’s advancement plan of the Federal MINISTRY of Finance is not an empty promise, but the equality of opportunities in financial management is part of everyday practice. Also, in the future, I will advocate for these goals and the positive development in the Ministry of Finance to continue,“ says Minister of Finance Löger. „The aim must be, however, that these rates are achieved not only in the public service, but also in the economy,“ the Minister of Finance.

The women’s advancement plan shall contain objectives and measures for the implementation of the requirements set out in the Federal equal treatment act, such as, for example, an increase in the proportion of Women in leadership positions or the promotion of equal representation of women in all decision-making structures, commissions, committees, panels and delegations.
