NEOS: Automatic pension splitting is now implemented

Gerald Loacker: „Long interruptions in employment are a major reason for poverty in old age. Automatic pension splitting is, therefore, an essential NEOS-claim.“

Vienna (OTS) – „It is gratifying that more and more couples in Austria, take the pension splitting. It allows women and men to take on a large part of the responsibility of raising children, in the age of independence and financial security,“ NEOS-social speaker Gerald Loacker to Figures released today. „Nevertheless, a small fraction, it is still part of the parent who opts for the pension splitting: Many people know about this possibility to know.“

NEOS challenge, therefore, is to automate the currently voluntary scheme to the pension splitting – with an Opt-Out option:
„The NEOS model a collaborative distribution of total income during a certain period of time, without to tell parents who stay home for long,“ explains Loacker. It is important that pension splitting should also be possible, if a Partner is working part-time.

The Minister had already announced a few months ago, to want this automation to implement: „it Remains to hope that this was more than the usual black-and-blue announcement policy. We NEOS are ready for a Reform of the pension income splitting, at least not with our concepts,“ concludes Loacker.
