Wolfgang Zinggl pleased with the major step in the fight against glyphosate

Vienna (OTS) – The European court of justice rules that there is a Public interest to know about toxicity and the carcinogenic effects of the active ingredient glyphosate to know. The access to this information is necessary and must be granted according to the decision of the court. Wolfgang Zinggl, Executive club, Chairman and agriculture spokesman NOW:
„With this judgment, a crucial and important step in the fight against toxic chemicals in the agriculture is managed. The judgment of the court of justice has made it clear that the interests of the Public, and health issues are more important than pure business interests of individual corporations.“ Zinggl:
„Authorisation procedure must be transparent to expire. It can’t be that the Public will be denied information about the cancer risk of individual agents is easy!“

„We need to reduce the use of pesticides in agriculture to an absolute Minimum. Not always the easiest means to control pests are also the best. Especially not if it endangers our health and, ultimately, entire Ecosystems,“ as Zinggl. The club Chairman therefore calls: „The ECJ has led the way. Now, the Federal government’s turn to do the next step and sustainable agriculture in Austria. A ban on glyphosate as well as a programme of action for the protection of our insect populations. Both of these can be done immediately. Appropriate resolutions of the NOW be the next agriculture Committee on may 14. March treated. The government can now prove whether or not she lets your big words with deeds.“ Zinggl concluded: „We invite the competent Minister to deal with this important challenge of our time with us – the Opposition-together.“
