AVISO: #ETUC19 – „A fairer Europe for workers!“ – ETUC-Congress in Vienna

21. – 24. May 14. Congress of the European trade Union Confederation

Vienna (OTS/ÖGB) – of The 14. Congress of the European trade Union Confederation (CES/ETUC) will take place from 21. – 24. May under the Motto „for A fairer Europe for workers!“ took place in Vienna. All meetings are open to the public. ++++

At the Congress, more than 600 delegates will take part, including

* the President and/or Secretary generals of about 90 trade Union federations from 38 European countries,

* 10 European trade Union federations,

* International guest speakers, including EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, economic Nobel prize winner Joseph
Stiglitz, the former Italian Prime Minister, Enrico Letta, European Commissioner Marianne Thyssen, Richard Trumka (President of the US trade Union centre AFL-CIO) and Guy Ryder (Director of the International labour organisation, ILO).

* Guest speakers from Austria: mayor Michael Ludwig and the Austrian trade Union Federation President Wolfgang Katzian. Representatives of the Austrian Federal government are requested.

* Election of the new Teams at the ETUC-to-peak

* Elections to the European Parliament

* Discussion and decision of the policy paper „A new Europe for the workers“

* Migration

* Democracy and social justice

* Climate change

* Digitization
