Place women different than men? In the summer of 2018 customers were investigated deposits of the Quirin Privatbank AG at a value of well over a billion euros on this question. The result: 49 percent of the shares lay in the vaults of the women at the time of Quirin, a private Bank, as well as on a par with the male clients (54 percent). „The widely held view that women are anxious investors than men, and would shy away from equities, we can not confirm so,“ says Martina Patzek, head of the branch office in Cologne.

In the case of other banks, women invest less in equities

In a further investigation have now been interviewed, a total of 1,083 customers in the Quirin, a private Bank, how do you keep it outside of the Quirin Bank with your money and equipment. Here is a different picture indeed: In the case of other institutions, the Quirin-customers-only 18% of shares – so only a third as often. Of the male Quirin customers more than twice as many (39 percent) are investing in other banks in the form of shares. A Relation, which is also confirmed by the German share Institute (DAI).

Cause I: different income

„A cause for these Federal-wide discrepancy in the case of stock investments of men and women may explain the difference in the salaries,“ he says Susanne Steinmann, branch Manager in Frankfurt. „Because, for equal work, women continue to earn less than their male counterparts. As a consequence, less money for the money system is in place,“ says Steinmann. „A failure is not able to point out that we often enough, because this has far-reaching consequences in terms of wealth building and retirement.“

Cause II: system concept crucial

„The fact that the customers of Quirin, a private Bank, when other banks invest only a third as often in shares as it is for us, for me, in addition to the salary issue, but yet another significant cause,“ explains Dr. Christian Ohswald, head of the private client business of the Quirin Privatbank AG. „If women are convinced of the system concept of a Bank, then you have to invest just as much in shares as men.“

Women talk more often about money and react to other speeches

In addition, the new investigation brought to light that almost every second woman, discuss the information within the family and with the Partner about financial issues (46 percent). Of the respondents are men that cannot be said, however, once a third (30 per cent).

„Also interesting is the result that women in the business and contact address on other channels than the male customers of our Bank was for us,“ explains Ohswald. So women would most often through networks and recommendations to the Bank’s attention that men, in contrast, rather, by reports in the press and marketing measures.

Small home book is to love the Savings

Another result of the Quirin-customer survey: Outside of Quirin, a private Bank, put twice as many women as men, namely, 15 per cent, still on a Savings account when investing Money (men: 7 per cent). Christian Ohswald: „women do not show, at least in this house, you often downstream of said exchange shy – a little secret love for the savings book seems to exist but still.“
