ORF-Redakteursrat is protesting against a travel ban for military protective

Prevention of independent reporting is undemocratic

Vienna (OTS) – The ORF-Redakteursrat protested in the strongest possible terms against the entry ban for Christian military contactor, the head of the ORF-office in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev. Preventing the free reporting is undemocratic and a means of censorship.

The refusal to grant accreditation and the imposition of an entry ban is an impermissible restriction of journalistic work and the freedom of the media. To make long exhausted excuses to a journalist, the work impossible of the rule of law is unworthy.

Public broadcasting stations in reporting on the fulfilment of strict objectivity are bound to criteria. To see In this reporting, a „threat to national security,“ is a reproach.

We therefore call for the immediate lifting of the entry ban against Christian military contactor, which can be seen from our point of view, only as an attempt of censorship and restriction of free reporting. Anyway, clearly, is incompatible with the pro-European values, which have been committed to the Ukraine.
