
Talent placements of the BMVIT: science and technology experience
Over 14,000 young people completed to date, a talent placement – record value in 2018: girls share increased to 45.5 percent in 2019, the successful BMVIT will continue program
Vienna (OTS/www.ffg.at) – „Austria is rich in talents. They are the Basis for the knowledge society of tomorrow. Therefore, we allow each year more than 1,000 young people an exciting internship in the fascinating world of research, technology and Innovation,“ says Andreas Reichhardt, General Secretary of the Federal Ministry for transport, Innovation and technology (BMVIT). „We, therefore, also for 2019, the appropriate resources available to students 15 years of practical experience in science and technology“.
„Young people learn through active participation in an internship, what is the meaning of science and technology in the practice and experience research first-hand. „This practical experience is also an important impetus for the choice of studies and careers,“ Secretary-General Reichhardt. The program allows students without relevant prior knowledge in order to breath in the exciting professions and industries „into“ and earn at the same time in the summer. Each internship is funded by the BMVIT with € 1,200 from the „talents“ programme, the interns will receive a minimum of 750 euros gross per month. 2018 the talents internships celebrated their 10-year anniversary. More than 14,000 students have had the opportunity to experience a four-week internship in research and development live.

Secretary-General Andreas Reichhardt, and FFG CEO Klaus Acting award in the context of a Celebration of the 20 best Reports and signed by their Authors, together with their internship supervisors from industry and science. In the last year to 1,400 students gathered from the whole of Austria, gained valuable experience in the context of a talent internship.
Particularly pleasing is the high proportion of young women in these scientific-technical internships: 2018 45.5% of the talents were interns female.
„The talent internships provide a unique win-win Situation,“ according to the FFG CEO Henrietta Egerth and Klaus Acting, and continues: „they allow young people to experience the fascination of research at first hand and increase interest in scientific careers. Students gain interesting insights into activities and subject areas and can imagine the future professional image of concrete. For companies and research institutions of the talent-internships are valuable to promote and discover young talents and to win, you may be at an early stage for your organization.“ This year, funding for over 1,300 internships are available. The current tender runs until 26.7.2019.
With the on the Internet freely accessible internships stock exchange, the FFG also offers companies and research institutions a convenient way to find suitable talents, and the young people a selection of Vacancies according to your personal Interests profile. Applications for funding (to be submitted by the internship provider), up to a maximum of 26. July 2019 to be easily submitted online. The program „talent-internships“ is handled by the Austrian research promotion Agency FFG.
