Trade unions criticize Husky-KTW sharply due to the closure of a profitable plant

PRO-GE and GPA-djp are calling for a social plan and work Foundation for affected Employees in the forest district

Vienna (OTS) – The canadian plastic group Husky closes in raids, the injection molding factory KTW in Waidhofen in the forest district. 240 Employees will lose by the end of the year your workplace. The trade unions PRO-GE and GPA-djp criticize the way in which the group sharply: „The workforce is faced with a fait accompli. The existing timely information to the works Council is not as observed so often from international companies,“ said Patrick Slacik (PRO-GE Secretary) and Peter Stattmann (GPA-djp-regional managing Director). The two lower Austrian trade unionists are calling for a rapid social plan and a Work Fund for those employees.

The plant has produced 40 years of injection moulding tools. The operation is profitable and has, in recent years, millions of surpluses in the balance sheets. Although it was agreed three years ago is also the possibility of short-time work, but this one has been used at the site only for a short time and only by the hour. „It is incomprehensible and a disgrace that a good profitable company is closed. The greed of a group is apparently limitless,“ criticize Slacik, and instead of a man. The trade unions were at least „100 percent behind the employees concerned and to support the works Council“.
