Philip Manow, German political scientist, on the heterogeneous landscape of the populist protest in Europe

Vienna (OTS) – „Who wants to talk about the populism, but not at the same time, also about capitalism, ends up only in the politics of identity“, says German political scientist Philip Manow. He is Peter Huemer, a guest at the Viennese talk of the town, a meeting of the AK Vienna and the weekly newspaper „Falter“.

In his latest book, „The political Economy of populism“, he develops a political – economic explanation for the heterogeneous landscape of the populist protest in Europe and beyond.

Philip Manow, born in 1963, is a political scientist at the University of Bremen and a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, with previous stations including at the universities of Konstanz and Heidelberg and the Max-Planck-Institute for society research, Cologne. He researches, among other things, to the growth and welfare state models of the developed industrial Nations.
