
CORRECTION to OTS 0176 Schmidt/Schnabl on International women’s day: „There is still much to do!“
The focus is on the reconciliation of family and occupation, differences in pay and more say in law, in politics
St, Pölten (OTS) – For over 100 years on 8. In March, the International women’s day instead. Even if has changed the role of women in society since 1911, the day is used to make to existing global problems.
For a hundred years, women in Austria, in the exercise of the right to vote. But until 1975 women were not allowed to work, for example, without the permission of her husband, in 1993, the act on equal treatment in force. Today this is fortunately no longer imaginable. Much has been achieved for women: a comprehensive violence-protection measures, and social and political participation to actions relating to the personal environment of women. Under the Motto of „To us, women, is the row!“ on the occasion of the International women’s day tomorrow, 8. March is to support the involvement of women in the best possible way to lead a self-determined and equal life. In Austria, the violence is mainly in the Form of domestic violence, also a Problem. The focus is on the reconciliation of family and occupation, differences in pay and a greater say are also right in the policy.
Zwt. Only a vote for the SPÖ is a voice for the women of the country, Madam Chairwoman Elvira Schmidt points out that only a vote for the SPÖ, was also a voice for the rights and the political participation of women: „We are committed to ensuring that the wage gap is gradually closed, that career and family are compatible – for example, through the Expansion of all-day cost-free child-care facilities. According to statistics Austria, the difference between the average gross annual income is 37.3 percent. In comparison to 25.5 percent (in 2006) has reduced the Gender Pay Gap in Austria to 20.1 percent (2016). Austria is still well above the EU average of 16.2 percent.

On the morning of 8. In March, the International women’s day, there will be in the whole of lower Austria, activities and events of the SPÖ NÖ women to demonstrate for women’s rights. The SPÖ NÖ women want to show the progress that has been made, and where to go in the future which needs to be managed.
