Smart Biking in the wine district

LR Bohuslav: Both the paths as well as the Cycling network coordinates are digitized

St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – „Cycling is in the Region of Retzer Land for many years, an essential part of sustainable tourism. The strong demand for cross-border cycle route network is now in need of a thorough Revision, both in the way of description as well as in the new edition of the bike map of Retzer Land. But the digital possibilities are to be taken into account in this project. Therefore, the popular Cycling region of Retzer Land will be developed into a ‚Smart bike‘ Region‘,“ said tourism councillor Petra Bohuslav.

The Region of Retzer Land is known for its wide range, especially in the areas of Cycling, wine and culinary delight. Cycling provides a high level of value creation for the gastronomy and the tourist accommodation establishments in the Region. Therefore, the cycle route network will be revised and made available online. „Both the paths coordinates, as well as the Cycling network is to be digitised, the guests, both offline and online, the appropriate quality of service to offer. This will increase the attractiveness of cycle routes and more visitors to the Region,“ says Bohuslav.

„The planned measures of the quality of the equipment and the orientation to be improved. The route of the four Cycling routes will be optimized and seamless signage of the cycle paths will be introduced. Suitable to of these signs for the cycle route map will be updated and digitized. To the cyclist to make the stay as pleasant as possible, also additional cyclists-Pegs with Seating sets. All of these measures are then communicated under the theme ‚Smart Biking in the wine quarter‘,“ explains Hannes Far Schacher, managing Director of the Weinviertel Tourismus GmbH.

The LEADER Region of Weinviertler-Manhartsberg selected in accordance with their local development strategy, the project to promote. It is promoted with the support of the country and the European Union. The Land of lower Austria has recently decided to support from the resources of the EU programme LE / LEADER and the ecoplus Regional development, on the Initiative of councillor Petra Bohuslav.
