The Sigmund Freud private University opened the ultra-modern faculty building for 1,400 students

The new faculty building of medicine and law offers six floors of space for medical and legal scientific teaching, science and research.

Vienna (OTS) – The Sigmund Freud University is a private with more than 5,000 students In the country and abroad, the largest private University in Austria. Of these, 823 students are currently at the faculty of medicine and 104 students at the faculty of law enrolled. Overall, the new faculty building offers space for up to 1,400 students. After the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2016 and the celebration in April 2018 construction period follows after two and a half years on 08. March 2019, the official opening. On six floors of both the modern educational and administrative system of the faculty of medicine, including anatomy, the University clinic for dentistry, the simulation centre and the Science Lab as well as the faculty of law are housed.

Simulation center: Institute for Medical Simulation

On the fifth floor of the simulation center is located on 500 m2, under the direction of the chair for Medical Simulation. The simulation centre has 10 function rooms, and serves as a training center for learning goal-oriented scenarios, training in the field of Crises Resource management with a focus on the creation of patient safety in the medical practice. In the framework of a three-stage full scale patient simulation training will be clinically simulated relevant situations from different areas of expertise in a realistic and standardized. The students are prepared by means of a human-factor-based scenarios-team training on their use in preclinical and clinical practice. The Training is for the sovereign to use in preclinical medical Teams, in anesthesia, the emergency Department, intensive care cardiac catheter laboratory or in the delivery room. The Training System and team safety is the focus of the training. Research priorities of the chair for Medical Simulation are in the areas of Medical Teaching, and in the causes of collecting, and why, „medical errors“ occur and how these can be avoided.

Science Lab: a research facility for all students

The Science Lab is a research facility for all students-year course of the faculty of medicine. Up to 30 students can copy at the same time micro, a teaching microscope is used for the instructions. Teaching focus in the Science Lab fundamentals of light microscopy, cell biology and Parasitology, histology, pathology, neuro-pathology, and the acquisition of histological techniques. Students can independently prepare histological sections, microscopy, and first research projects. A current research project in the Science Lab is concerned with the temperature resistance of Lyme disease pathogens.

Faculty of law moved

The faculty of law of the Sigmund Freud private University deals with international, comparative law and interdisciplinary subjects of the law. This is evident in research and teaching. The confrontation with right-didactics allows for the creation of innovative teaching/learning concepts, which are used in the mediation of legal knowledge. Main research foci are in the areas of private law and comparative law, data protection, and Legal Tech, European law and higher education law, basic and human rights as well as economic and company law.

International Conferences

The law faculty holds regular international conferences. In the fall of 2019, a conference on current challenges to the Constitution, the rule of law in the 21st century. Century, in preparation. For the past two years, the Institute for European and international higher education law the faculty of international conferences („the Vienna Conferences on Higher Education Law and the Management of Sciences“) in the year 2020, continued organized.

Training for students and Non-lawyers

In the sense of the Life-Long-learning, the faculty of law for students, offers legal education opportunities (for example, in the context of the SFU Inside Law Summer School or an Intensive course in preparation for the study of SFU Inside Law Crash Course). Similarly, different offers for Practitioners there are in the context of the SFU training Academy, which prepared for both legal content for Non-lawyers as well as Soft Skills for lawyers.
