Women’s day: the Start of the nomination period for the international Abilities Award for women with disabilities

Vienna (OTS) – light for the world launches for the International women’s day, in the morning at 8. In March, the deadline for nominations for the Abilities Award, the international prize for women with disabilities. The prize will also be awarded in 2019, and again to three women in three different categories. It is intended to recognize the achievements of women with disabilities worldwide and characterized. The award was initiated in 2018 of light for the world together with the Ethiopian human rights activist and winner of the Right Livelihood Award, Yetnebersh Nigussie. 2018 158 women were nominated with disabilities from 52 countries, including four Austrians. The deadline for submission ends on the 21. June. The winners will be on the inside of the 20. November to be announced. „We hope this year to get more great nominated women with disabilities from all over Austria. Because there are both successful athletes as well as women with disabilities from the world of art, culture, science and development cooperation“, says the managing Director of light for the world in Austria, Sabine Prenn. Since this year, Heidemarie Egger from the Austrian disability Council is for the first time, a part of the international Jury.

As of 2018, the prizes will be awarded in three categories:
Health and education (e.g., teachers, School Directors, professors, Doctors or staff in the area of health); rights (a fighter for inclusion, and the rights of people with disabilities from public or private organizations, governments, companies or local communities); art, culture & Sport (artists, Actresses, poets, writers, paralympionik interior and other successful athletes).

An international, independent Jury of women from different countries and the three categories will decide on the winners. From Austria to 2019 Heidemarie Egger was taken by the Austrian Council of disabled people in the Jury. „With the Abilities Award the achievements and abilities of women with disabilities are recognized international for the first time. Through this visibility, they become role models and Pioneers. For me it is a great honor and pleasure to support the Abilities Award,“ says Egger.

The deadline for nominations will start tomorrow, [www.her-abilities-award.org] (http://www.her-abilities-award.org/) and ends at 21. June. Active means any natural or legal Person may nominate. Passive nominated every woman can be with disabilities from the three categories. The three prizes will be on 20. November to be announced. The winners will be part of a network of successful women supporting each other and other women to motivate with disabilities.

The first of Her Abilities Award for 2018 Musola Catherine Kaseketi from Zambia, Toyin Janet Aderemi from Nigeria and Ashrafun Nahar from Bangladesh. All the three prizes in February, a guest at the Zero Project conference in Vienna, where they also got their languages, and in the case of an event of light for the world, the prices presented.
