Green NÖ: Contaminated sites such as at the animal shelter in Vösendorf quickly renovate
Helga Krismer: ignorance in the provincial government of lower Austria and debited to the environment
St. Pölten (OTS) – In the case of a locally to the eye together with the Green Vösendorf the country, spokesperson of the Greens of lower Austria, Helga Krismer made an impression about the devastating conditions through the legacy Vösendorf: „Contaminated sites are former landfills, of which considerable dangers to human health or the environment and therefore, health risks and late consequences for the in Vösendorf people who live and work cannot be assessed. This Legacy of the past must be quickly secured and subsequently renovated, with the risks to people and the environment to contain. The Federal government and the provincial government of lower Austria and are therefore in the duty to prevent the negative impact on the habitat and the health of the people“.
A request of the Greens in the last, lower Austria Landtag session, that a speedy restoration of the contaminated site Vösendorf, has been rejected by the majority party, the ÖVP and the FPÖ.
On the approximately 12.5-acre abandoned industrial site „Raffiniere Vösendorf“ were 1920-1960 the operating system of a refinery situated in the crude oil, among others, gasoline, kerosene, gas oil, and Bitumen are generated. So far, a total renovation of the railing with excavation of the contaminated subsurface, for reasons of cost is not realized. On the Grounds of the legacy, it always comes back to the Tar springs, and admission of contaminated Water into the building and slumps of concrete surfaces. In buildings which have been erected on the Site, such as the Vienna animal protection house, it comes to increased mold growth, and shows the lack of securing the legacy. „The high toxic Potential of ground contamination is undisputed, and therefore, it can be only in the sense of the people in the Region, if these Contaminated sites are rapidly and completely backed up and restored. Other Suspected sites and Contaminated sites in the southern Vienna basin belong to carefully examined and also, in case of need, backed up to the possible health consequences of late for the people to avoid.
Vösendorf is particularly affected, because at the community-area 2 suspect areas, and two sites Contaminated with a high priority level shown. The recent discussion on the landfill at the sports field, shows that the residents of the subject is very important. A healthy soil, and clean groundwater are the basis for the quality of life in Austria, even the residents have in the southern Vienna basin on the right. We will fight for it and in the sense of the health of people and the environment continue to put pressure on the responsible exercise“, Helga Krismer, and Alexandra wolf schütz and Peter Köck Green Vösendorf sure.
