Municipality Association President Alfred Riedl for international women’s day: „women motivate more leadership positions in the communities“

169 Mayors, 366 Deputy mayor councillors indoor and 9.213 Municipality – Approximately 25 percent of all municipal representatives are women

Vienna (OTS) – on the Occasion of world women’s day on 8. In March, the view in the Austrian municipality of shows offices a pleasing picture:

The Austrian Association of municipalities has been trying for years for the promotion of women in mayor’s offices. „We organize meetings every year, our Mayors, to promote exchange and networking. In two weeks, the Federal Board also selects, on my Initiative, two new Vice-presidents to the Bureau of the Association of municipalities, the Mayors are getting even more voice and weight in the representation of interests of Austrian municipalities.“

The highest proportion of local chief is inside, by the way, still in lower Austria with 12 per cent. The second place in the Steiermark is currently 7.7 percent. After that, Vorarlberg, with 7.3 percent, Burgenland, with 7%, Austria 6.8%, Kärnten, with 6.1% and Tyrol with 5.7%. Tail light is in front of Salzburg with only five Mayors, or 4.2 percent.
