LR Bohuslav: Varied Route leads to attractive destinations

St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – a year Ago, a whole bunch was launched on infrastructure measures, in order to make the part of the popular thermal Spa cycle path that runs between Vösendorf and Katzelsdorf, mainly along the Wiener Neustädter canal, even more attractive. Now next steps are set around the three-million-dollar project. „The implementation of phase 1 is completed and the main construction works are completed. Currently it is started with the new signage, which will also be in time for the Start of the national exhibition at the end of March. Thus, the Region is according to the this year’s Motto of the exhibition to be a sporting offer for a ‚world in motion‘ richer,“ says economic and tourism councillor Petra Bohuslav.

„The thermal Spa cycle path is at a frequency of around 150,000 cyclists, and cyclists per year, one of the most popular Cycling routes in lower Austria and is thus an important impetus for the successful development of cycle tourism in our state. If all activities are completed, not the Route, but only more user friendly, but also more interesting. Because there are many attractive destinations along the Spa route, which will now be transported even better. I am convinced that the municipalities involved in the framework of a specially established joint venture (JV) on the project, will benefit in the long term,“ says Bohuslav.

The aim of the ARGE thermal Spa cycle path that includes all 17 communities along the 53 kilometre-long railway section between Vösendorf and Katzelsdorf, it is, through the comprehensive improvement measures and services along the Route of the tourism boost and to generate additional value added for the Region. CONSORTIUM spokesman for mayor Christoph Kainz: „Our communities have much to offer both culturally and culinary – and these regional treasures to open up the cyclists, and cyclists. Therefore, the comprehensive construction and infrastructure measures as investments in the sustainable tourist development of the Region. Not least, the developed cycle path is also an additional recreational and sports facilities for our population.“

With activities such as route optimization, the construction of new rest areas and information points, or new signage, which also provides information about and links to the public transport, was brought to the thermal Spa cycle path from Vienna’s city limits to Katzelsdorf are up to date. The project was supported within the framework of the Funding priority cycle route network of the ecoplus regional promotion. „In this project, but it is much more than the modernization of a cycle route. Here is a whole Region is strengthened in a sustainable manner and the measures taken should act as an impetus for additional tourist activities“, ecoplus CEO, Helmut Miernicki.
