Vienna (OTS) – Who goes carefully over one of the Vienna’s cemeteries, has noticed that many people go to the natural oasis for Walking, Nordic Walking or even Running. Due to the growth of the city of Vienna, many cemeteries are now in an urban location and serve the Viennese also for recreation, relaxation and sports.
In order to meet this development, the cemeteries of Vienna something Special: The first two running tracks in Vienna’s Central cemetery. An overview of blackboard in the entrance area (gate 2) of the Vienna Central cemetery shows the route and the info, to stretch the respective run. The distances are measured on the GPS and the routes, with tables of signs.
The Name „Silent Run“ was not chosen by chance. So the Name should also create an awareness for the many deceased, who are buried at the Vienna Central cemetery and that the cemetery is a special place of peace and Contemplation.
Today, on the 8. March of 2019, was unveiled in the overview panel of the running trails and the program of the opening of the festival the representatives of the media presented.
25. May held the opening ceremony and the first running events in the history of Vienna’s Central cemetery. The proceeds from the entry fee of the running events for the benefit of the PH Austria – Initiative pulmonary hypertension and the pulmonary children research Association.
Mag.to stretch a Renate Niklas, managing Director of the cemeteries in Vienna, the new run and the opening ceremony: „The cemetery as a place of Reflection and as a habitat is not a contradiction. I think it’s a nice thought, to let our dead to our life. Events like this should awaken the interest in our beautiful cemeteries, and to visit and invite.“

Time: 25. May from 10:30 – about 15:30.
Location: Vienna’s Central cemetery, entrance via gate 2 (Simmeringer Hauptstrasse 234, 1110 Simmering)
Procedure:
Solemn opening of the running track at 10:30
Kids run 1.25 km: Start at 11 am – awards ceremony 11:25
Adults run 5km: Start 11:20 – closing at 12:05
Adults run 10km: Start 12:10 – goal final 13:40
Following the award ceremony of the profit takes place-and winner of the 5km and 10km run.

Zwtl. PH Austria – Initiative pulmonary hypertension and the pulmonary children research Association
Pulmonary hypertension is a still incurable, fatal disease of the pulmonary vessels, which leads statistically, within 5 years, death due to right heart failure. The symptoms are shortness of breath with exertion, chest pain, momentary fainting and blue lips.
Children with pulmonary hypertension (PH) have the worst prognosis, you are not allowed to swim, ride a bike, go to school or go to parties, because you get immediately out of breath and each cold life can be dangerous.
The goal of the PH Austria is to improve the quality of life of patients on their difficult path and their Service to all those Affected with advice and act to the side and to always have an open ear for you. Important for is to give patients the feeling that they are heard and understood. Children with lung are high-pressure lonely, isolated, and very often sick and suffer from exhaustion. We are the point of contact for all PH patients in the whole of Austria. It is important to us, with your help, to be able to some children with pulmonary hypertension in a child-friendly life.
